Iwobi said this during a chat with the Super Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji after Tuesday’s training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state. On the 2026 World Cup qualification series which starts on Thursday, Raji asked Iwobi if he was ready to attend another Mundial, having been to the tournament which took place in Russia in 2018. “I will like to be there at the World Cup again and not just me but the whole team and I can promise that we are going to give a hundred percent,” Iwobi said. “That is to make sure that we give a chance and an opportunity to bring the nation joy and that sense of pride that we will be representing them at the World Cup hopefully again.” On Tuesday’s training session, he said it was not too intense. “We are going to prepare well for the game against Lesotho and every player has already arrived in camp, so we have to be preparing well. “We have done some trainings on Tuesday, we will go again on Wednesday and then, we will analyze the Lesotho team very well and hopefully, we will get the result we need to qualify. On a tight international window which will see the Super Eagles play two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe within 72 hours, Iwobi said it is a blessing that Nigeria have a lot of players. “We also have enough quality in the team and so, everyone will be needed, that is why it is a squad mentality and not just an individual one,” the former Arsenal and Everton star concluded.
