JTF kill over 50 terrorists while invading Fulani settlement in Niger

    Over 50 terrorists have been killed in Chibani, Shiroro local government area of Niger State during a gun battle with the Joint Security Taskforce (JTF).

    The terrorists invaded a Fulani settlement in Chiibani and rustled over 200 cattle when the residents were planning to relocate their animals due to the dry season, The Nations disclosed.

    During the attack, the residents sent a distress call to the Joint Taskforce who trailed the terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle.

    Two vigilantes were killed during the attack while several of the terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries.

    Niger Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs Emmanuel Umar confirmed the attack, saying that security forces were deployed to the area to respond to the distress call.

    He however declined to comment on the causalities from both ends saying that “the operation is ongoing.”
