The terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna bound train on March 28, 2022, have released another set of three kidnapped victims in their custody after more than 100 days in captivity.
The victims, who consist of two males and a female, secured their freedom around 11 am on Monday, July 25.
It was gathered that they were released by the terrorists at a location inside the forest along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The abductees were picked up by their relatives inside the same forest.
A total of 22 kidnapped victims have regained their freedom, according to The Witness.
However, it remains unclear if any amount of money was paid to the terrorists before the abducted victims were released.
With the release of the three victims, the number of those still in captivity now remains at 40.
Recall that, gunmen had on March 28, 2022, blown up the rail track, killing some passengers and abducting 62 others.
This event prompted the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) to temporarily suspend activities, with President Muhammadu Buhari directing security agencies to rescue the victims.
It was earlier reported that the terrorists, on Sunday, July 24, released a viral video clip where they were seen flogging their hostages.
They also threatened to abduct President Buhari and Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The presidency, however, reacted to the threat hours after, accusing the terrorists of using propaganda to compel the federal government to yield to their demands.
