The State Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Kano State has sanctioned some ward party leaders who earlier suspended the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Meanwhile, in a quick counter, the party’s local government officials thwarted the suspension and sacked those behind it.
The chairman of APC in Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Inusa Dawanau, revealed that those behind the suspension of Ganduje were caught in anti-party activities, adding that their records of meetings with the opposition were exposed.
The state working committee of the party, while adopting the suspension of the ward APC leaders, said they have sanctioned the perpetrators for six months, adding that a special investigations panel has been set up to verify several allegations against them.
The APC chairman in Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, said the decisions of the Local Government party leaders have since been adopted.
“We have evidence of meetings between the state government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman. The state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand now suspended,” Abbas said.
One of the accused party men who suspended Ganduje, Halliru Gwanjo, however, disclosed that they decided to suspend him from the party due to the allegations leveled against him by the Kano state government on bribery.
