The Kano Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Centre will be ready for inauguration in July next year, the contractor, Mario Stella, Programme Manager, TEAM Nigeria Company Limited, a consulting firm for BICO Nigeria Limited said on Tuesday.
The project was conceived during Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s trip to Melbourne, Australia, early this year. The governor had vowed to execute the same cancer treatment centre in Kano, it was learnt.
On returning from the trip, the governor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some companies which led to the commencement of the project early this year.
Fielding questions from reporters, Stella said the project would be completed in July 2021.
He said the project is now at 50 per cent completion stage, after it had been redesigned.
Stella added that the project had been stalled due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with alterations on its initial plan, which include creating third floor and some additional compartments.
