Kwara police confirm 2 dead, 1 injured following terrorist attack on church

    The Kwara state police command has confirmed that two people were killed and another was injured following a terrorist attack on a church in Eruku community, Ekiti local government area of Kwara state on Tuesday.

    According to the command, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. when officers of the Eruku police division, supported by local vigilantes, were alerted by gunshots coming from the outskirts of the town near the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun.

    The operatives quickly mobilized to the scene, forcing the attackers to flee into the bush.

    During a search of the area, officers discovered the body of a man identified as Aderemi inside the church.

    Another victim, Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was later found dead in the bush with gunshot wounds.

    A member of the community vigilante group, Segun Alaja, also sustained a gunshot injury and was taken to Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) hospital in Eruku for treatment.

    The state commissioner of police, Adekimi Ojo, commended the rapid response of the security operatives and vigilantes.

    He assured residents that efforts were already underway to track down the terrorists.

    He reiterated the command’s commitment to intensify operations until criminal groups operating in the region are dismantled.
