Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have removed Speaker Mudashiru Obasa from office, citing accusations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Following his impeachment, the lawmakers elected Mojisola Meranda, the representative of Apapa I constituency, as the new Speaker.
This decision was influenced by allegations of corruption and financial impropriety leveled against Obasa.
It was gathered that the former Speaker was accused of mismanaging constituency funds and projects, alongside claims of spending a staggering N17 billion on a gate for the assembly complex, a move widely criticized as excessive and fraudulent.
