Asks members, officials to ignore move Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators (LASPAGA) has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Progress (TUC) to be patient with the Federal Government and shelve the planned protest. The agency urged members of the public to reason with the Federal Government, saying subsidy payment would lead to economic doom. It, however, disassociated its members and officials from the planned strike and protest. Chairman of LASPAGA, Oba Suleimon Raji (Ashade I), stated this in a statement yesterday. The statement was issued by the Secretary of the agency, Abdulrahman Amusan. Raji, according to the statement, pleaded with Nigerians to be “more patient with government at all levels to enable them to make subsidy palliatives available to Nigerians.” He also asked members and officials of the agency not to join the planned strike and protest. “Strikes and protests will compound the already worst situation and make life more unbearable to Lagosians and Nigeria at large,” he added in the statement. LASPAGA, while promising to stop arbitrary increase in transport fares, appealed to NLC, TUC and civil rights societies to return to the negotiation table to present better ways to handle the issues of palliative distribution and management.
