An articulated lorry carrying foreign woods caught fire on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway in Anambra State on Sunday.
The incident, which occurred around 2.29pm near the Enugu-Agidi junction, was caused by the truck driver’s loss of control, which resulted in a crash.
Although no lives were lost in the crash, the lorry and large portions of its contents were destroyed by the inferno.
Engr Martin Agbili, State Fire Chief, confirmed the incident, saying the fire was quickly brought under control by his men who arrived on the scene.
“At approximately 1429hrs (2.29pm) today, Sunday, 19-03-2023, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of a fire outbreak at Enugu-Agidi junction opposite Zim Zam Hotel along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on a 911 lorry carrying foreign woods,” he said.
