Makinde presents N891bn 2026 budget to state assembly

    Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented a budget estimate of N891.9 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the state house of assembly, seeking its approval.

    The governor made the presentation on Monday, November 24, at the state house of assembly in Ibadan, the state capital.

    The presentation was attended by prominent traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, among others.

    Makinde, in his presentation of the appropriation bill tagged the “Budget of economic expansion,” said that out of the proposed figures, N389.34 billion would be allocated for recurrent expenditure and N502.65 billion for capital expenditure.

    “Out of this proposed figure, N389.34 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N502.65 billion is allocated for capital expenditure,” Makinde said.

    In the sectoral breakdown, he stated: “The Infrastructure sector leads with N210.02 billion; the Education sector, N155.21 billion; the Health sector, N70.81 billion; and the Agriculture sector, N19.99 billion, while other multisectoral allocations total N435.9 billion.”
