Man beats wife to death while fighting over N1000

    Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 41-year-old man, Usman Hammawa, for allegedly beating his 36-year-old wife to death during a fracas.
    It was gathered that fight ensued after the deceased whose name was given as Rabiyatu Usman asked her husband to refund the N1,000 she had lent him.
    Irked by the development, Usman Hammawa, a resident of Jada Ward in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, applied force in beating his late wife.
    This, he did by hitting her head against a wall, a development that made her fall unconscious.
    She was confirmed dead after being rushed to the hospital.
    Following her death, the wife’s relatives launched a complaint at the police station and operatives from the command in Ganya local government area of the state swiftly arrested the suspect.
    Usman, according to Daily Trust, is a civil servant with Ganye LGA, who had five children with the deceased following 16 years of marriage.
    Confirming the development, the police spokesperson, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Commissioner, CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, commended the locals and police for exposing and making it impossible for the criminal to escape justice.
    He further directed that a discreet investigation be conducted to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted rightly.
