On Wednesday in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, a man identified as Chinedu Omeonu, killed his cousin, Solomon Monday Orji, over a mango fight in Mgboko Umuoria, Abia State.
It was reported that the man used a machete to hack his brother to death while exchanging words owing to their misunderstanding over ownership of a mango fruit.
A fight ensued between the duo after Monday’s son went to Omeonu’s house to pick some mangoes and ended up being flogged till he was unable to walk back home.
When Monday got wind of the incidence, he rushed down to Omeonu’s house and they engaged in bitter confrontations.
However, as he picked up his son and turned his back to leave, his cousin attacked him with a cutlass, leading to his death shortly after.
The suspect was apprehended by the community youths who tortured him before handling him over to the police.
Meanwhile, One Patrick Obiesheike allegedly murdered his brother, Remigus, in the Umulowoshie Umuoahochie Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, following disagreements over funds raised for their mother’s funeral.
It was gathered that the 55-year-old victim was a commercial motorcyclist and lived in the village with his family.
A police said that the victim’s wife reported the case of murder at the Obowo Divisional Police Headquarters.
A community source said Remigus’ corpse had been deposited in a morgue in Achingali.
The police spokesperson in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone on Monday.
According to him, police personnel visited the scene and evacuated the corpse to a nearby morgue.
