Man slumps, dies while waiting on long queue in Delta Bank (Photo)

A bank customer has slumped and died after standing in a queue for long hours at a bank (name withheld) in Agbor, Delta State.

Tribune reports that the yet-to-be-identified man died after waiting for hours to collect his Automated Teller Machine card at the bank in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State.

Confirming his death, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said, “He was not trying to withdraw cash; he came to collect his ATM card.”

Nigerians have continued to express painful experiences they go through in commercial banks to withdraw cash, despite the CBN relaxing its cashless policy by allowing Nigerians to do so over the counter.

CBN on Thursday, February 2, 2023, instructed that banks should pay customers over-the-counter a minimum of N20,000 daily, while also encouraging the use of electronic means for transactions.

But some banks have limited cash withdrawal to only N3000 per person.
