President Bola Tinubu has admitted that many Nigerians are still battling economic hardship and insecurity despite his government’s repeated claims of progress.
Tinubu made the statement on Sunday, May 24, while accepting the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election.
Acknowledging the country’s economic struggles, he said, “Yet challenges remain. Many Nigerians still struggle with rising costs and economic adjustment. We do not dismiss these concerns; we understand them and govern not in comfort, but in reality, with honesty and action.”
Tinubu also admitted that insecurity remains a major issue across parts of the country despite ongoing military operations.
He also acknowledged the security challenges still confronting parts of our beloved nation, adding that his administration had invested in intelligence, surveillance and modern security equipment.
“We have invested in intelligence, surveillance and modern equipment, and we are addressing the root causes of insecurity,” he added.
Tinubu also urged the National Assembly to approve state police as a matter of national emergency.
His remarks come amid growing public frustration over rising food prices, inflation, fuel subsidy removal, naira depreciation, kidnappings, killings and bandit attacks across several parts of Nigeria.
