The media today, Since the struggle for the 10th National Assembly leadership commenced, all the newspapers from the South East have been working both day and night to project Easterners as the best candidate for the post of Senate President.
Please check the front pages of the Vanguard Newspaper, The Sun Newspaper, and the Telegraph. The ‘Obidients’ on the internet have changed their narratives, they are now focused on how to arm-twist their perceived enemies: the Fulannis and Yorubas to pick an Eastener to douse the political tension in Nigeria.
But the reverse is the case for the South-South. No newspaper in the South-South is writing anything about their Sons and daughters who are in the vantage position to clinch the office of the Senate President.
Thisday Newspaper is busy with anti-Tinubu editorials, Arise TV’s attention is on how to install a labour party candidate in Lagos as if their Publisher, Nduka Obiegbena is a Lagosian.
This is how you know a region that is naive politically. If I was the owner of Arise TV or Thisday Newspaper. My crew would be permanently stationed in front of our eligible candidate’s houses for the post of Senate President. It is not about anything, but a call to service.
After last week’s Presidential Election, I withdrew to my state directing my energy towards supporting the best candidate for my State.
You may not like it, but the current political supremacy fight between the Igbos, Fulanis, and Yorubas is healthy.
In every contest, there must be a winner, and after the governorship election on Saturday, the rest will become beer parlour gist and life will continue.
At the time of writing this article, all odds are in favour of the southeast even though the region produced the lowest number of Votes for the ruling party in the just concluded election.
How the South East use media to change the opinion of Nigerians on social media platforms to support their own for the office of the Senate President is still like magic to me. The narrative is flying like wildfire.
The last election was won and lost in southern Nigerian on social media. The most powerful politicians and Mr fix can not rescue their party. The dynamics of politics are changing in Nigeria and you can only use force to coerce some people for some time but not forever.
The internet warriors have registered their presence in Nigerian politics and failure to notice their presence will spell doom for our politicians.
