Prince George Ogwuru, a fresh graduate of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, has secured the approval to embark on a 72-hour marathon quiz competition to break a new Guinness World record for the longest quiz marathon.
Ogwuru is among other Nigerians attempting new records in different fields of endeavour in the Guinness World book of records.
The young graduate disclosed in a statement on Thursday, that the initiative “is aimed at promoting lifelong learning, and raising awareness on the importance of Agriculture.”
A copy of the approval letter of the Guiness World record with reference number: 230614174306lmaa, read in part, “We are pleased to inform you that your application has been accepted under the following title, Longest Marathon as a quiz Master”.
Ogwuru, 25, is awaiting his call-up for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC after graduating in September 2023.
The graduate of Plant Health Management, who is contesting for the Guiness World record, said he also planned to use the competition to inspire reading culture and competition among the youths.
His statement read, “My goal is to raise awareness on the importance of Agriculture and its role in our society. Through this extraordinary feat, I aspire to inspire young minds, demonstrate the importance of mental fitness and brain power, instill a love for reading and bring Nigerian Students all over the nation in the spirit of friendly competition.
“In preparation for this momentous challenge, I have meticulously planned my approach. I have carefully selected a wide range of Agricultural-related courses that will engage and captivate the students (secondary and tertiary). By creating an outline for each piece, I will ensure a cohesive and well-structured collection of written 6000 Agricultural questions.
“Agricultural students who are willing to exercise academic prowess Crop Protection ( Plant Health management), Agronomy, Soil Science, Animal Science, Fishery, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Rural sociology and Extension.”
It added that a lot of people had already indicated interest in the show scheduled for April 23 to 27, 2024 at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Abia State.
“Let us embark on this extraordinary adventure and make history. With a deep passion for education and agriculture, unwavering commitment to promote agriculture, I am excited to embark on this remarkable journey. Through this Guinness record attempt, I hope to leave a lasting impact on young farmers, encouraging them to explore the diversities in the agricultural sector,” the statement read.
