Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), operating under Sector 1 in Mora, have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Darak military base in Cameroon and eliminated 10 terrorists.
The Chief Military Information Officer, Lieutenant. Colonel (Lt. Col.) Olaniyi r Osoba revealed that the attack on the insurgents took place on Wednesday, December 18.
He noted that the assault began at dawn, with terrorists launching attacks from multiple directions.
In a fierce gun battle, troops swiftly neutralized six terrorists and forced the remaining attackers to retreat with gunshot wounds.
Unfortunately, five soldiers sustained injuries during the encounter and are currently receiving medical treatment.
In a follow-up operation, MNJTF troops ambushed the fleeing wounded terrorists along their regrouping route near Mazogo, a village between Zamba and Djibirilli, Cameroon.
Four more terrorists were eliminated as they approached the ambush zone, and troops recovered various food items belonging to the attackers.
This decisive action brings the total number of terrorists neutralized to 10.
Lt. Col. Osoba emphasized the operation as a testament to MNJTF’s steadfast commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring regional security.
