Mob in Kano lynch man for slitting worshipper’s throat inside a mosque

    A mob lynched a man on Monday, December 15, for slitting a worshipper’s throat inside a mosque at Tarauni local government area of Kano state.

    The worshipper, Ladan Malam Zubairu, was reciting the call to dawn prayer inside the Yusuf Garko mosque in Hotoro Maraba when the assailant slit his throat.

    Eyewitnesses said the assailant was immediately pursued by an angry mob following the attack and was lynched on the spot.

    The mob also set fire to the assailant’s residence.

    The Kano state police command confirmed the incident and said normalcy has been restored.

    According to the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Monday, both bodies have been taken to Mohammed Abdullahi Wase teaching hospital in Kano, where they were certified dead and are awaiting autopsy.

    Kiyawa stated that the police investigation team has recovered the victim’s throat from the suspect’s pocket.

    The commissioner of police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice.

    The command urged residents to provide any information that could aid the investigation, with assurances that all tips will be treated confidentially.
