He revealed this at a community awareness programme held at Oregun High School, lkeja Lagos. The Oba said that was his contribution to nation building. Other features at the event included awareness walk, learning sign language, sensitisation drive and networking. The monarch, who emphasised that “there is ability in disability,” urged all stakeholders to learn sign language and to enlighten parents who have kids with disabilities. He said the gesture was to carter for the welfare of hearing-impaired persons in the society. The Convener, Speaking Fingers Network, Treasures Uchegbu, appreciated the monarch for his kind gesture and thanked him for supporting the hearing impaired persons. “It is, indeed, beyond words and rhetoric. It is a huge investment towards the advancement of sign language and possibilities of productive participation of both our deaf community and persons with disabilities, as a whole,” she said.
