The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has recorded a significant operational breakthrough after carrying out two successful Air Interdiction missions that neutralised several bandits and dismantled their hideouts in Zamfara State.
The Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the air operations were executed on Sunday following credible intelligence gathered from multiple sources.
According to Ejodame, the missions focused on strategic bandit locations at Turba Hill and Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp in Tsafe Local Government Area. He said the locations were identified as critical operational bases connected to recent violent attacks in the North-West region.
NAF air assets were deployed to weaken the combat strength of the criminal groups and eliminate their safe havens. Ejodame said the first strike targeted Turba Hill, a known bandit stronghold, where a zinc-roofed structure believed to be central to the group’s activities was destroyed.
“Post-strike assessment confirmed the total destruction of the target and the neutralisation of several bandits.
“The second mission hit Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, a notorious IED manufacturing and operational hub linked to recent attacks along the Dan Sadau–Magami axis. Multiple active structures were engaged, triggering intense fires that destroyed the facilities and neutralised several bandits, crippling the group’s IED production and deployment capacity,” he said.
Ejodame noted that the airstrikes significantly disrupted bandit operations in the area, particularly their capacity to produce and deploy improvised explosive devices.
He added that the missions underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve, working alongside other components of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and contribute to ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North-West and the country at large.
