The Nasarawa state police command has arrested a 40 year old man, Maro Ebojoh, for his involvement in organ trafficking, rescuing four victims in the process.
The disclosure was made by the state commissioner of police, Shetima Mohammed, during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Lafia on Tuesday.
According to Mohammed, the suspect was intercepted at Alhaji Yahaya Sabo motor park, Bukan Sidi, Lafia, after motor park officials received a distress call reporting his suspicious activities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on Friday, November 14, 2025, Ebojoh, a native of Ogbara inland area, Delta state, arrived in Lafia to source potential organ donors for immediate kidney transplants.
He lured victims with promises of ₦2,000,000 per donor.
The identified victims were Umar Ahmadu Barau (25), Suleiman Alhaji-Garba (20), Williams Dadung (32), and Stanley Ezekiel (27).
“The suspect took all the victims to a hospital for medical evaluation.
“One of the victims, having passed the initial screening, was moved to Abuja for the transplant, but the procedure could not hold due to issues related to blood pressure.
“The victim was subsequently lodged in a hotel to stabilize.
“Operatives of the command swiftly moved to Abuja and rescued the victim unhurt,” Mohammed said.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he had received an advance of ₦500,000 out of the agreed ₦6.5 million, and admitted to previously procuring another donor for financial gain.
The commissioner cautioned the public to remain vigilant against individuals posing as organ donor facilitators but engaging in organ harvesting for profit.
