The National Assembly Service Commission, NASC, has announced the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, effective December 11, 2024.
The decision was made during the Commission’s meeting on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, and was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Emmanuel N. Anyigor, Deputy Director of Information, on behalf of the Executive Chairman.
Nwoba will succeed Chinedu Francis Akubueze in the position. Before this appointment, he served as Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.
The NASC also approved promotions and redeployments within the National Assembly’s administrative structure. Key changes include the appointment of Emmanuel Oda as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate and Vivien N. Njemanze as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the House of Representatives.
In addition, Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha has been named Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.
Rawlings Agada, previously Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate, has been reassigned as Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the Senate, while Florence Kehinde A. transitions from Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the House of Representatives to Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the House of Representatives.
Earlier, the Commission also appointed Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resources & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.
