The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted opioids bound for the United States (US) concealed in black soap containers and arrested a notorious terrorist drug supplier in Niger state.
The drug supplier identified as Mohammed Sani, also known as Gamboli, was arrested on Thursday at a drug joint in Anguwan Fadama, Kuta, in Shiroro Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, following weeks of surveillance and intelligence-led tracking by NDLEA operatives.
The 33 year old had escaped arrest during a raid on his residence in Anguwan Makera, Kuta, on November 20, when officers recovered 471.8 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis.
Intelligence reports identified him as a key distributor supplying illicit drugs to terrorists operating within Shiroro and surrounding communities.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, the NDLEA intercepted several illicit substances bound for the US, Canada, and Sweden.
“No fewer than 907 pills of tramadol, tapentadol, cocodamol, amitriptyline, and bromazepam concealed in containers of local black soap, and designer wears, in six different consignments going to the US, Canada, and Sweden were intercepted.
“They were seized by NDLEA operatives at two major courier companies in Lagos between Tuesday, 9th and Wednesday, 10th December 2025,” the statement read.
In Abia state, NDLEA operatives on December 11 dismantled a clandestine factory producing codeine syrup at Amapu Igbengwo village in Osisioma LGA.
The operation led to the recovery of 9,015 bottles of codeine syrup, weighing a total of 1,152.2 kilograms.

Similar enforcement actions were recorded in Enugu state, where officers arrested Ossai Emeka, 45, along the Onitsha-Enugu Ezike road with 7.2 kilograms of skunk.
Another suspect, Enoje Agada, 40, was apprehended along the Enugu Ezike-Ette road with 94.6 kilograms of the same substance.
In Oyo state, a raid on a notorious drug joint known as Beere the California in Ido, Ibadan, resulted in the seizure of 3.4 kilograms of skunk, 1.6 kilograms of colorado (synthetic cannabis), and 400 grams of methamphetamine.
One suspect, Ajibade Faruk, was arrested, while the owner of the joint, identified as Idowu the killer, fled the scene.
A separate operation in the Elekuro area of Ibadan led to the arrest of 35 year old Olusanya Abosede, and the seizure of 238.4 kilograms of skunk.
At the Gbaji checkpoint along the Seme-Badagry road in Lagos, NDLEA officers intercepted Bashiru Babalola, 43, and Ugunwale Ranti, 50, with 50,000 pills of tramadol (250mg).

In Ogun state, operatives arrested Akinwale Makanjuola and Joseph Owolabi with 73 kilograms of skunk in Iperu, while another suspect, Wasiu Lateef, was apprehended in the Imeko area with 25 kilograms of the drug.
A raid in Ogbese, Akure north LGA, Ondo state, led to the arrest of a 55 year old woman, Veronica Obi, and her 29 year old son, Bright Obi.

Officers recovered 1,187 kilograms of skunk and cannabis seeds from their compound.
Edo state operatives also arrested Ohiomah Igbafe, 44, during a raid in Uroe community, Owan east LGA, where 461 kilograms of skunk and seeds were seized.

In Gombe state, 50 year old Muhammed Sani, also known as Sha-Mu-Sha, was arrested with 40,000 capsules of tramadol.

Two other suspects, identified as Muhammad Abdullahi, also known as Sakalala (52), and Muhammed Hamza, also known as Mamman (32), were apprehended on 8th December with 56 kilograms of skunk in the Ashaka Jalingo area.

At the Apapa seaport, Lagos, a joint examination of a container by NDLEA, the Nigeria customs service, and other security agencies led to the interception of 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup weighing 23,579 kilograms.
NDLEA chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended officers across the Niger, Abia, Oyo, Enugu, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Gombe, Lagos, and Apapa commands for the arrests and operational effectiveness.
Marwa urged NDLEA operatives nationwide to sustain the agency’s balanced approach to drug control efforts.
