The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raided the popular Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, disrupting what officials described as a drug party in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The operation, which began around 2:00 a.m., led to the detention of more than 100 individuals for drug screening, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, a Lagos socialite and entrepreneur.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the raid followed credible intelligence indicating that the venue had been repeatedly used for parties where illicit substances were freely consumed and sold.

“We acted on reliable information that the nightclub was being used as a hub for drug-related activities. Our operatives stormed the venue during an ongoing event and recovered several exhibits,” Babafemi said on Sunday, October 26.

During the operation, NDLEA officers reportedly seized cartons of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, as well as dozens of canisters of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, which has gained popularity among young partygoers in Lagos despite its harmful effects and regulatory restrictions.

Photographs and videos from the scene, seen by this newspaper, showed confiscated items being loaded into NDLEA vans while patrons were lined up for identification and screening.

The agency said all individuals found at the venue were taken into custody for profiling and drug testing.

Those who test negative will be released, while anyone found in possession of or under the influence of banned substances will face prosecution.

An NDLEA official who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed that the nightclub has been on the agency’s watchlist for several months, following reports of narcotics use and open sale of psychoactive substances during private events.

Mike, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversial appearances at Lagos social events, was among those taken in for questioning.

NDLEA officials confirmed that he was cooperating with investigators and could face charges if the ongoing investigation links him directly to the illegal activities.
