The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on Thursday, March 26, launched a training scheme in Lagos state, designed to upskill Nollywood filmmakers on global industry standards.
The NFVCB director-general, Shaibu Husseini, represented at the opening ceremony by the Lagos zonal officer, Danlami Pau, said the initiative is aimed at strengthening professionalism within the Nigerian film industry.
He emphasized that the training, which is expected to run over several days, will provide filmmakers, producers, directors, and other stakeholders with up-to-date knowledge of global best practices and regulatory requirements.
Husseini noted a growing need for industry players to fully understand content classification guidelines, production standards, and the principles of ethical storytelling knowledge which are vital for achieving consistent international recognition.
“This training is part of our broader mandate to strengthen the industry by promoting professionalism, safeguarding cultural values, and ensuring that Nigerian content meets both local and international expectations,” he said.
The chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), Seyi Jakande, commended the organisers and urged participating youths to take full advantage of the opportunity, describing the programme as a potential pathway to building sustainable careers within the creative industry.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, also commended the initiative and appreciated the organisers for supporting industry development.
