Israel Kristilere, President of the Christian Tourism Practitioner’s Association of Nigeria, has shared his encounter with Egyptian Airport police which occurred on April 30 at the Cairo International Airport.
He was falsely accused of assault by a female he had no prior interaction with.
The clergy was traveling with a group of 28 pilgrims from Lagos to Amman via Egypt Air.
Kristilere, also the Senior Pastor of Shepherdhill Baptist Church in Obanikoro, Lagos, said that the airport police asked him to sign a settlement document in Arabic and apologize to the lady, despite his claims of no involvement in the incident.
When he refused to sign the document and requested an English translation, he was threatened with legal action and told he would be charged in court if he didn’t comply.
Kristilere maintained his innocence and insisted on a document in a language he could understand, refusing to sign away his rights without knowing the implications.
“I had a very traumatic experience at Cairo International Airport on Tuesday, April 30.
“I wonder what they airport police would have achieved if I was travelling alone, no doubt this would have happened to other persons travelling alone,” the cleric said while narrating his ordeal.”
