Nigerian man, Olaolukitan Adon-Abel, on Tuesday, April 14, was arrested for killing two women and leaving another victim fighting for his life in the United States (U.S).
The 26-year-old Adon-Abel was taken into custody in Troup County after investigators tracked a rental vehicle he was driving using license plate reader technology.
Police said the attacks, described as random, began shortly after midnight and occurred at multiple locations.
The first incident happened around 12:50 a.m. outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road, where officers found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital but later died.
Around 2 a.m., a second victim, a 49-year-old unhoused man, was shot multiple times while sleeping outside a Kroger shopping area.
He was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
The final attack occurred around 6:50 a.m. on Battle Forest Drive, where 40-year-old Lauren Bullis was attacked while walking her dog.
Police said she was shot and stabbed multiple times, and witnesses reported an attempted sexual assault before the suspect fled.
Investigators later tracked the suspect’s silver Volkswagen Jetta and carried out a felony traffic stop. He complied with commands and was arrested without resistance.
Adon-Abel faces two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and firearm-related charges.
