President, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Dr Ike Neliaku, has advocated the need for information managers to renew hope for a greater nation with possibilities. According to Neliaku, reputation managers hold the ethical responsibility to be patriotic and committed to strengthening national values. The NIPR president gave the caution yesterday during the Institute’s special membership Induction ceremony for 71 information officers of Kano State Government. Neliaku believes Nigeria remains one of the great countries in the world with huge value and potential to be among developed nations, and cautions against denigrating the country. While taking the new inductees through the professional oath of NIPR, Neliaku said the institute was established by Degree 6, on June 1, 1970, now Cap 114 Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004. He said practitioners under the law were expected to exhibit high-level professionalism, reputable character, and attitude while adding value to society. The NIPR president emphasised that as members of the Global Alliance of Public Relations, the new members possessed the certification to practise information and reputation management across 126 member countries. He urged the new members, sponsored by the Kano State Government, to widen their horizon in the global practice of public relations and demonstrate a high sense of responsibility while adding value to their line of duties.
