Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, on Thursday, March 5th, accused comedienne Damilola Adekoya, also known as Princess, of setting him up in a child sexual assault case via his new song.
In the song titled Eniwaye Daran, which translates to whoever comes into the world faces hardship, the actor claimed he was lured to Princess’s residence on April 21, 2021, under the pretence of a meal and a new film role, only to be framed in a scheme that eventually landed him in Kirikiri maximum security prison.
Baba Ijesha stated that Princess had contacted him about a film production, promising to cast him in a role different from his usual character, suggesting it would take his career to the next level.
Upon arriving at her residence, he claimed he began rehearsing for the supposed movie as instructed, unaware that no such production existed.
“I received a call from Princess, who asked me to come to her place because she was preparing pounded yam and egusi soup with bush meat.
“I didn’t know it was a trap; the world can be wicked,” he sang.
Baba Ijesha alleged that Princess’s true motive was to exploit his fame and engineer his arrest.
“When I got to her house, I met some people there.
“While waiting for her to finish cooking, I began rehearsing because of how much I love my job.
“I started acting as they instructed, not knowing it was all a lie and a scheme.
“There was no movie anywhere; it was all set up.
“She wanted to exploit my fame to make herself relevant again.
“The she-devil is wicked; my trust was betrayed.
“I ended up in Kirikiri prison because of a woman,” he added.
Baba Ijesha was arraigned before the Lagos state high court on June 24, 2021, on a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.
He was convicted on July 14, 2022, for offences involving the indecent treatment and sexual assault of a child, which occurred between 2013-2014 and 2021.
For these five counts, the court handed down a five-year sentence for sexual assault and an additional three-year term for indecent treatment.
Following an appeal in June 2024, the court dropped charges against Baba Ijesha regarding incidents from 2013–2014.
However, his conviction for the 2021 assault remained unchanged.
The court upheld his five-year and three-year sentences, confirming they would run concurrently, which effectively kept his total jail time at five years.
He completed the sentence in November 2025 and was released from custody.
At the time, the Lagos state government clarified that his freedom followed the completion of his prison term, dismissing claims circulating online that he had been cleared of the offences.
Baba Ijesha also advised his fans to exercise caution in their relationships, warning that people should be wary of individuals who reappear after long periods of absence.
