The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has apprehended five individuals suspected of vandalism and cable theft found with them, along with unlawful possession of communication cables.
The suspects include, Sulieman Abdulamin, 30, hailing from Kagaro Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Musa Yakubu, 37, from Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT, Celestine Nelson, 29, originating from Kagaro LGA of Adamawa State, Oluwatosin Henry, 27, with roots in Ondo West LGA of Ondo State, and Okolawen Femi, 25, from Akoko South LGA of Ondo State.
As stated by the FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, on September 21, 2023, the corps detained two individuals in Pai, within Kwali Area Council.
They were found in possession of 16 jerrycans containing petroleum products, suspected to be crude oil. An ongoing investigation seeks to determine the origin of these products and potentially unveil the person concealing their identity.
Two other persons who were suspected for vandalised the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, armoured cables at the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, were also arrested.
Meanwhile, Officers of the Command also apprehended another individual who had removed a flat-screen television from Maitama District Hospital.
During the parade, Odumosu said, “In the course of carrying out this noble assignment, the Command arrest suspects on daily basis based on its usual proactive approach to work. Suspected vandals and other criminals are apprehended on daily basis with their exhibits in their hands.
“At the end of the investigations, the culprits will be prosecuted, as the command is not willing to compromise its effort to totally and absolutely eliminate all forms of vandalism and criminality within the metropolis.”

Fostering peace contributes to the realisation of the Sustainable Development.” Odumosu stated as he commerates the 2023, International Day of Peace under the theme ‘Action for peace our commitment to global goals.
