The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested three suspected bandits who were attempting to escape from Zamfara to Taraba.

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ikor Oche, the NSCDC spokesperson, disclosed this on Monday, December 27, 2021, at a media briefing.

Oche said the suspects escaped from the Magami area of Zamfara because of the ongoing security operations in the area, adding that they were nabbed while attempting to board a bus at Gusau motor park on Monday morning.

The suspects are identified as 27-year-old Tukur Halilu and 40-year-old Hussaini Altine.

According to the NSCDC, a third suspect, 60-year-old Abubakar Altine, was said to have “claimed innocence”.

Hussaini Altine was said to participated in attacks on Kurya, Bagawuri, Agamalafiya and Rijiya areas of the state, while Halilu from Gabaru village, Nahuche district in Bugudu LGA, is allegedly “under a notorious bandit leader, Magajin Kaura”.

”Although Abubakar Altine claims innocence, Hussaini confesses to belonging to the camp of notorious bandits, Gugurawa,” Oche said.

He added that the suspects are under investigation, while the search for other members of the bandit group is ongoing.
