The minister of health, Ali Pate, has announced that the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has suspended its nationwide strike.
He said that a productive closed door meeting with the union’s leadership had led to an agreement.
However, the union leaders refrained from commenting on the outcome of the meeting.
The nurses and midwives had initiated a warning strike on July 29, after their 15 day ultimatum to the government to address their demands expired.
