Peter Obi, a presidential hopeful of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has gifted ₦30 million each to two Nigerian universities to support education and youth development initiatives.
During a visit to Dominican University in Ibadan, Oyo State, Obi presented a donation of ₦30 million to the institution.
He also contributed another ₦30 million to Peter University located in Anambra state.
The former Anambra state governor emphasised the importance of investing in education, describing it as one of the most valuable commitments a society can make.
He noted that education not only improves individual lives but also strengthens communities and equips nations to face future challenges.
Obi explained that he sees every opportunity to support institutions dedicated to learning, character building and service to society as a privilege.
According to him, his visits to the universities were intended to reinforce the idea that higher institutions should motivate young people to aspire beyond their current circumstances and recognise their potential role in national development.
He added that the financial support aligns with his long-standing advocacy for increased investment in education, which he believes is essential for national growth and social transformation.
