Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps have arrested a 20-year-old man, Adesanya Rasheed, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s nine-year-old daughter.
The Corps Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Yusuf said the suspect was arrested following a complaint by the victim’s parents at the state headquarter of the corps in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He explained that the parents alleged that the suspect, who was their co-tenant, carried out the act on Monday.
The spokesman said the parents found out about the act when they saw blood flowing from their daughter’s private parts.
Yusuf said upon receipt of the complaint, the Ogun corps Commandant, Soji Ganzallo, ordered the arrest of the suspect.
He said the suspect had been transferred to the Ibara divisional police headquarters.
“The victim has been handed over to the police to provide the necessary information needed to establish the case for further investigation and likely prosecution,” he added.
The corps spokesman also revealed that its operatives have rescued three worshippers of a branch of the Celestial Church of Christ who were kidnapped on their way to a vigil in the church at Iwokun in Obada-Oko, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
Yusuf urged residents to shun vigils as well as worshipping in the forest.
