The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals suspected of engaging in ritual activities in Oja Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as Monday Ogunniyi and Oladeyo Idowu, were apprehended after an abduction case led to the discovery of human remains.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 17, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the investigation began when Oladeyo Idowu, a resident of the School 4 area in Oja Odan, reported the disappearance of Regina Oladeyo at a local police station.
Idowu accused Ogunniyi of abducting Regina, prompting officers to launch a detailed investigation.
During their operation, law enforcement uncovered human remains at a location connected to the suspects, shedding light on the grim circumstances surrounding the case.
“During questioning, Ogunniyi admitted to abducting Regina but alleged that he and the complainant, Oladeyo Idowu, were involved in ritual activities that required human remains,” the statement read.
Further investigations by the Ogun State Police Command uncovered a chilling arrangement between two suspects, Monday Ogunniyi and Oladeyo Idowu, to obtain human remains from a decomposing corpse for ritual purposes.
On the evening of Monday, December 16, Oladeyo Idowu, a resident of the School 4 area in Oja Odan, reported the abduction of Regina Oladeyo at the local police station, accusing Monday Ogunniyi, who resides in the Okegbala area of the same town.
Acting on the report, police located Regina at Ogunniyi’s residence.
During interrogation, Ogunniyi admitted to the abduction and further implicated Idowu, revealing that both were engaged in ritual activities involving human remains.
Investigators uncovered evidence linking the two men to the dismemberment and storage of a corpse.
Ogunniyi’s confession also led to the recovery of incriminating exhibits and photographs, which provided critical insights into their illicit activities.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case, aiming to ensure that justice is served.
