*Set to unveil transport marshall unit *Foils 50 school kidnap attempts in one year Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), has issued a fresh order to it’s anti-vandal squads nationwide to scale up and clamp down on crude oil thieves. The Commandant General, NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, gave the order at the quarterly conference and review meeting of all state commandants, yesterday in Abuja. He said the fresh order was precipitated by the order of President Bola Tinubu that all security agencies nip in the bud the challenge of oil theft and its attendant consequences. “Recall that Mr. President had earlier stated in very clear terms that his administration will no longer tolerate crude oil theft and has given a marching order to security agencies to end the menace of oil theft. “As the Lead Agency in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, we are obligated to key into this policy direction by further strengthening our anti-vandalization drive. “I am therefore issuing a fresh order to all State Commandants to rejig and reenergize your anti-vandal and intelligence units to effectively execute this Presidential Order. Thank you for listening. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!,” he states. The CG, while charging the state commandants to live up to expectations, said, “Let me remind you of my earlier directives and standing order to State Commandants to re-strategize and take proactive steps to enhance operational efficiency and better performance at the State Command level. While some have tapped into this, others seem to be dragging their feet. He warned that “You are to note that your continued stay in that position is dependent on your performance. Be reminded that the Corps is blessed with a pool of capable and intelligent officers. You are therefore expected to redouble your efforts to justify your continued retention in that office. Highlighting more progress made by the corps, Dr. Audi said a new unit known as Transport Marshall has been formed and will soon be unveiled. Giving updates on progress made so far by the female squad in the area protecting schools from kidnapping, the CG said, “The female squad is doing well, as we have been able to foil over 50 kidnapping attempts since we assigned them to protect the schools from kidnappers.”
