Olayemi Cardoso assumes office as CBN governor

    Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has assumed office alongside his deputies in an acting capacity pending their approval by the Senate.

    He assumed office on Friday, September 22, 2023.

    The oath of office was administered to them at the bank’s headquarters in Abuja.

    This followed the resignation of the initial acting governor of the institution, Folashodun Shonubi, on Thursday, September 22, 2023, together with Aishah Ahmad, Edward Lametek Adamu, and Dr. Kingsley Obiora who served as Deputy Governors.

    The new deputy governors are Emem Nnanna Usoro, Muhammad Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
