Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Ondo State have apprehended a 35 year old commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as Keke, for sodomizing a 15 year old boy.
The suspect, Peter Nweke, was arrested while sodomizing the teenage boy at his residence located at Willy Bright Street, Abusoro, in Akure South Local Government area of the state.
The NSCDC’s Public Relations Officer, Daniel Aidamendor, who confirmed the incident said that Nweke’s arrest was made easy and possible by the joint efforts of the community people.
While parading the suspect at the state headquarters of the corps, Aidamenbor explained that residents of the area had for a while noticed Nweke and the teenage victim’s behaviour before the suspect was eventually arrested.
The NSCDC spokesperson said that the offence run contrary to the provisions of Section 31(1)(2) of the Ondo State Child’s Right Law 2007 and Section 3(1)(a)(b)(c) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law 2021.
He explained further that, “On Thursday, July 6, 2023, he was caught in the act of molesting the child but ran away.
“On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the victim’s uncle apprehended him and handed him over to the command.”
The Ondo NSCDC spokesman stated that the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is completed on the matter.
