One person is feared dead in a robbery attack that occurred at the Wema Bank branch located at Iragbiji, Boripe local government area of Osun State on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
National Tribune reports that the robbers arrived the bank at about 3:00 pm and operated for about 30 minutes.
The robbers were said to be armed with sophisticated weapons including AK-47 rifles, explosives, charms, cutlasses when they arrived at the bank premises.
They shot sporadically into the air to scare away the passers-by before gaining entry into the banking hall.
It was gathered that explosives were used by the robbers to break the door of the bank.
An eyewitness who identified himself as Adebisi Adedokun hinted that the dead victim has been taken to an undisclosed hospital while those injured are receiving medical treatment.
Another witness also revealed that the police station located around the bank was also attacked by the armed men.
The police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the robbery stating that a tactical team have been deployed to trail the armed robbers.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Mr Daniel Adigun also confirmed the incident.
