Stellantis, the European automobile conglomerate that owns brands like Peugeot, Fiat and Chrysler, has revealed plans to cut off about 1100 jobs at it’s plant in Toledo, Ohio, United States (US).
This announcement was made via a statement on Thursday, November 7 at Ohio, US.
The company revealed that it will reduce operations from two shifts to a single shift at the Toledo South Assembly Plant, Ohio, US starting from 2025.
Also stating that an additional 400 employees will be reassigned to a ‘third-party service provider.
“These are difficult actions to take, but they are necessary to enable the Company to regain its competitive edge and eventually return production to prior levels,” the statement said.
Stellantis sales plummeted in the third quarter, with a 42 percent decline in North America alone.
To address the issue, the company introduced promotional offers as US dealerships have faced challenges in reducing their stock levels.
“As Stellantis navigates a transitional year, the focus is on realigning its US operations to ensure a strong start to 2025, which includes taking the difficult but necessary action to reduce high inventory levels by managing production to meet sales,” the statement added.
