Oyo govt alerts citizens to new strategy used by kidnappers to abduct school children

The Oyo State Government through the state’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has alerted all citizens in the state to a new strategy used by kidnappers to lure unsuspecting school children.

According to a memo dated 27 October, 2021 signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mrs A. B. Atere,  kidnappers in the Ibadan metropolis now wear the same uniform as school children in their cars and offer to give free rides to unsuspecting children.

The memo titled “NEED TO BE SECURITY CONSCIOUS AND REJECT FREE RIDES OFFERED BY STRANGERS.” added that when school children enter the cars, the kidnappers zoom off to an unknown destination.

It further enjoined all stakeholders to sensitize and warn children on the need to be security-conscious and reject free rides offered by strangers.
