Oyo loses 4th traditional ruler as Aseyin of Iseyin joins his ancestors

A first class king in Oyo State, Oba Adekunle Abdulganiyu Salawudeen, the Aseyin of Iseyin, has passed on.

The report of the passage of the monarch was broken by a family sources who pleaded anonymity.

Aseyin was said to have breathed his last on Sunday.

The king is the fourth senior traditional rulers in Oyo State to have rested after the exit of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi, on December 2021; the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, in January; and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, April.

It was learnt that the king had been sick for some time but the actual cause of his demise was not disclosed.

The late monarch was a University of Ibadan trained veterinary doctor, and ascended the throne in 2007. He was said to have died at the University College Hospital, where he has been for months.

Traditionalists have begun passage rites around the ancient town to usher in his burial.
