The Ministry of Education in France has disclosed that approximately 30 schools across the Paris region received threatening messages accompanied by disturbing footage of beheadings earlier this week.
The threats, characterized by the ministry as “serious” and containing incitement to terrorism, targeted primarily secondary schools.
They were disseminated through various digital platforms including the ENT platform, internal emails, and Pronote software.
Authorities are actively investigating to apprehend the perpetrators behind these alarming messages.
Additionally, psychological support has been extended to individuals, particularly students and staff, who were exposed to the distressing content.
Reports from police sources indicate that at least five high schools in the Yvelines department received bomb threats, facilitated by the hacking of a student’s email account to distribute the threatening messages and videos.
In a separate incident in Seine-et-Marne, a secondary school received a message asserting the presence of explosives throughout the premises “in the name of Allah.”
These threats come on the heels of previous false bomb alerts that targeted schools, airports, and tourist sites in autumn 2023.
