PDP chairman Babatunde Mohammed while inaugurating the ratified members of the party’s executive members in Ilorin, yesterday lamented the sudden drift of the “state of harmony to state under the siege of bandits and cult gangsterism.” According to him, there have been recent list of reported cases of threats to lives, kidnappings, house burgling and general insecurities necessitating relocation of many Kwarans to more secured neighbouring states. The party recalled: “Just last month, one of the vibrant youths in the state, Yusuf Mubarak was murdered in cold blood. A shock which is yet to be erased from the minds of Kwara youths. “It’s a bitter pill to swallow but we mustn’t deceive ourselves any longer that our darling state which is known for her tranquility and pristine ambiance is suddenly turning into a state under siege of bandits and cult gangsterism.” He added that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently adjudged Kwara as one of the drug ravaging states with 14 per cent rate of abuse. “Since the agency made the proclamation, there’s no single statement from the government to explain what they are doing to arrest the situation,” PDP faulted. PDP also lamented what it called: “Kwara increasing in revenue, debt profile but shrinking in development.” The party alleged that Governor Abdulrazaq has not justified the huge financial standing of the withe state with development. Mohammed explained that the present government herited N10 billion from his predecessor “which is enough for any serious government to start on good footing, the KWIRS has remitted more than N134bn between 2019 and 2022. “It is worrisome that despite this huge cash inflow to the state, Kwarans could not see anything on the ground across the state that commiserate with the income and huge debt imposed on the state since 2019,” PDP lamented. 25 mins ago The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a housewife, Khadija Adamu, 18 years for beating a five-year-old girl to death for staining her cloth with stool.
