Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi for his resilience and dedication.
In a tweet shared on Friday, Obi revealed that he recently visited Farotimi, who had just returned from a correctional facility in Ekiti.
Obi expressed that Farotimi remained optimistic despite his recent ordeal, describing him as a figure of bravery in challenging times.
“Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him. I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation,” Obi wrote.
The former governor also wished Farotimi a successful year ahead as they continued working toward their shared vision of national progress.
Farotimi’s arrest on December 3, 2024, by the Ekiti State Police Command was linked to accusations of defamation and cyberbullying.
The allegations stemmed from claims made by legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Aare Afe Babalola, who alleged that Farotimi defamed him in a 116-page book titled “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.“
