Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s spokesperson, Bere Gyang, said this after the State Security Council meeting, stating that the curfew will now be in effect from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Gyang said movement within the local government area will be restricted between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. until further notice, except for security personnel and individuals performing essential duties. According to him, security agencies must ensure strict adherence to the curfew during the specified time frame. He added that the State Security Council made the decision to relax the curfew after taking into account the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) and Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE), and it has been decided to allow students to participate in these exams. Gyang also added that Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and properties in the state.
