Police apprehends three suspected land grabbers in Ogun

    Three suspected members of land grabbers syndicate, terrorizing Gbayunre Village in Ado-Odo Local Government area of Ogun state have been apprehended by the state’s police command on Monday, April 10.

    SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Spokesperson in the state, made this known in Ota, Ogun state.

    Oyeyemi explained that the suspects, Sunday Owoyele, age 32, Idowu Ayobami, age 32 and Kola Owolabi, age 39, were apprehended on April 4, following a petition received from Dada Gbabi family of Gbayunre Village.

    The PPRO, narrated that the complainant (Gbabi) claimed that land speculators under the leadership of Joseph Ayodele broke into their village with dangerous weapons, drove out the family from their landed property in the Atan Ayunre area, and forcibly occupied the village.
    Oyeyemi stated that on the basis of the petition, the Commissioner of Police (CP) ordered DCP Babakura Muhammed, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Departments, to look into the situation and find the offender.
    The D.C. dispatched a team of detectives to the scene where three members of the syndicate were detained in accordance with the CP’s instruction.
    Others, such as their leader Ayodele Joseph, who has been on the Command’s wanted list in connection with a number of violent land grabbing cases in Ado-odo, Ota, and the surrounding areas, took off running.
    “Kola Owolabi, one of the detained suspects, had previously been arrested for snatching a riffle from an officer, but was overpowered then, and he was subsequently charged to court and remanded in prison custody,” Oyeyemi claimed.
    Oyeyemi stated that various criminal charms and weeds, possibly indian hemp, were found on the suspects.
    “In the meantime, the Command is using this channel to advise Ayodele Joseph, the violent gang’s leader, to report himself in his own best interest to the state Criminal Investigation Departments, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

    “The
    Command will not fold its arms, but if he fails to do so, he should be rest assured that he will be hunted for and brought to justice,“he added.
