Police arrests 15 armed robbers, drug dealers, others in Ekiti

    Operatives of the Ekiti state police command have clamped down on a group of armed robbers, drug dealers, and cultists in their criminal hideout at Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

    The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abutu Sunday, while confirming the arrest  in a statement, on Tuesday, July 19, said the arrested persons were arrested during the operation carried out by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on July 13.

    Those arrested include Musa Madaki, Abdullahi Umar, Shola Adeyemi, Hawalu Ali, Usman Amisu, Haruna Usman, Yanusa Abubakar, Usman Lawali, Ajayi Opeyemi, Toheeb Isa, Ajiboye Michael, Kayode Yinka, Taiwo Michael, Jimoh Zarheal, and David Henry.

    Items recovered from the criminals were two locally made single barrel guns, two battle axes, two locally made pistols, and some wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

    It was gathered that the arrested persons confessed to be members of a notorious armed robbery gang, illicit drug dealers and cultists.

    DSP Abutu added that the arrested persons shall be arraigned accordingly as soon as investigation is concluded.
