The Lagos State Police Command on Sunday, 24 July, confirmed the arrest of four persons impersonating soldiers in the Iju area of the state.
According to Punch, the policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, Iju Division, CSP Gbenga Stephen, were on patrol around 1 am when the suspects’ vehicle was accosted.
During interrogation, the suspects, who were dressed in military attire, gave no meaningful explanation as to where they were serving and going.
The suspects, Samuel Abel, 28, Victor ljeemai, 35, Lukman Salabiu, 43, and Oyinyechi Macus, 30, were taken into custody.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet on Sunday, said the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for discreet investigation.
The tweet reads, “Officers of the Iju Division led by the DPO, CSP Gbenga Stephen, today around 1.30 am arrested four fake soldiers in the Iju area of Lagos State.
“The fake soldiers who were arrested in a Mazda 3 saloon car are Samuel Abel, 28; Victor ljeemai, 35; Lukman Salabiu, 43, and Oyinyechi Macus, 30.
“They have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.”
