The Lagos state police command has arrested a 36-year-old, Ifeanyi Ezennaya, for drugging and robbing six ladies of their iPhones valued at N4 million in Falolu street, Surulere region of the state.
Ezennaya lured the young ladies to a hotel, laced their drinks with an unknown substance, and dispossessed them of their phones and other valuables.
One of the yet-to-be-identified victims stated that they met the 36-year-old man a few days ago in a bar during a birthday party.
She said, “We met Ezennaya at a bar. He approached us and introduced himself as Emeka.
“He claimed he just returned from Switzerland, and he wanted to be our friend.
“Two amongst us gave him our phone contacts, and on Tuesday, August 2, he called that we should hang out in a hotel, and we honoured the invitation.
“The six of us honored the invitation, and we were ushered into the room Ezennaya had already booked for us.
“He brought out a red wine, and some energy drinks from the fridge and served us, and that was all we could remember,” she added.
Another victim, who continued the narration, said Ezennaya was nowhere to be found when they eventually woke up after sleeping for six hours.
“We drank the wine around 7:00 p.m. and woke up at 1:00 am, and discovered that we had been robbed of our six iPhones, wristwatches, and gold chain, among other items,” she said.
“It was then it dawned on us that our drinks were spiked with drugs.”
She added that Ezennaya withdrew N50,000 from the account of one of them using the ATM card he stole.
The police spokesman in Lagos state, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the arrest of Ezenayya, said the 36-year-old man drugged and robbed the victims of their phones valued at N4 million in a hotel in Ikeja region of the state, adding that investigation is currently ongoing on the incident, according to Peoples Gazette.
